The benefit of making your own food for your little one, is that you are able to experiment and expose your baby to a variety of flavours and textures in their foods from an early age. Many children who are fed solely commercial baby food grow up on a fairly bland diet as they often do not include herbs, spices or flavours such as ginger or chilli. When home-cooking your baby’s meals, your have a wonderful opportunity to expand their tastes and hopefully encourage them to eat a more varied diet as they age. In countries like India and Thailand, children are introduced to curries and chilli from an early age. This recipe can be modified by changing the pork fillet for chicken fillet if preferred.
Coconut Pork Curry Recipe
- Suitable from: 8+ month old
- Preparation time: 5 minutes
- Cooking time: 15 minutes
- Ingredients: 100g pork fillet, 1 carrot, 50g green beans, ½ cup cooked rice, ¼ cup coconut milk, pinch of cumin, optional: teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- Peel the carrot and chop into 3mm slices.
- Chop the ends off the beans and cut in half.
- Chop pork into 1cm cubes.
- Place the pork, carrot, beans, cumin and optional ginger in the steamer basket of the Babycook®.
- Fill the Babycook® with water to level 3 and press steam button.
- When cooked put all of the ingredients in the blending bowl while reserving the cooking liquid. Blend adding the coconut milk to reach desired consistency.

If serving to toddlers, children or adults, there is no need to blend and you may wish to cover the pork in soy sauce prior to cooking. Alternatively, you may wish to substitute the pork for chicken.
