Trying to increase your little one's fish intake? This fish cake recipe makes a delicious meal served warm or cold and are also a great lunch box snack! If you don't have smoked trout or would prefer a different fish, tuna or smoked salmon would also work.The left overs can also be frozen ensuring you place a piece of greaseproof paper between each one prior to freezing. Tuna Patties Recipe
- Suitable from: 8+ month old
- Preparation time: 10 minutes
- Cooking time: 15 minutes + 5 minutes in the pan
- Makes: approx. 4 fish cakes
- Ingredients: 50g smoked trout, 1 potato, 1/2 cup of peas, splash of milk,1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- Peel and chop potato into 1cm cubes.
- Put potato and peas into the Babycook® steamer basket.
- Fill the Babycook® with water to level 3 and press the steam button.
- If your smoked trout is from a whole fish, be careful to avoid bones while removing the fillets.
- When it has finished cooking, remove the steamer basket and discard the cooking liquid.
- Combine all cooked vegetables in the Babycook® mixing bowl. Blend until a puree consistency has been reached, adding a splash of milk.
- Add the smoked trout and breadcrumbs and mix again for a further 5 seconds.
- Allow the mixture to cool, then shape mixture into fish cakes - round or long the choice is yours!.
- Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat with some spray oil.
- Cook for a few minutes each side until they appear golden. If they 'fall apart' while turning, that usually means it needs a little more cooking time before flipping!
