Smoked Trout Fish Cakes

Tuna Patties Recipe

  • Suitable from: 8+ month old
  • Preparation time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking time: 15 minutes + 5 minutes in the pan
  • Makes: approx. 4 fish cakes
  • Ingredients: 50g smoked trout, 1 potato, 1/2 cup of peas, splash of milk,1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  1. Peel and chop potato into 1cm cubes.
  2. Put potato and peas into the Babycook® steamer basket.
  3. Fill the Babycook® with water to level 3 and press the steam button.
  4. If your smoked trout is from a whole fish, be careful to avoid bones while removing the fillets.
  5. When it has finished cooking, remove the steamer basket and discard the cooking liquid.
  6. Combine all cooked vegetables in the Babycook® mixing bowl. Blend until a puree consistency has been reached, adding a splash of milk.
  7. Add the smoked trout and breadcrumbs and mix again for a further 5 seconds.
  8. Allow the mixture to cool, then shape mixture into fish cakes - round or long the choice is yours!.
  9. Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat with some spray oil.
  10. Cook for a few minutes each side until they appear golden. If they 'fall apart' while turning, that usually means it needs a little more cooking time before flipping!

Et voila, bon appétit!

Chef’s tip

Swap out the smoked trout for smoked salmon or tinned tuna according to your child's tastes and what you have available.
