Sticky Salmon and Veggies Recipe

Does your little one eat enough fish? Fish containing omega 3 fats are good for healthy eyes and brain development and have been shown to improve cognitive function in babies and young children. Salmon is also an excellent source of high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals (including potassium, selenium and vitamin B12). To make fish more desirable for little ones to eat, try marinating it in a sweet sauce with plenty of flavour such as this Tamari and Honey dressing. Please note that as honey is not recommended for infants to consume, this recipe is suitable from 12 months plus.

Sticky Salmon and Veggies Recipe

  • Suitable from: 12+ month old
  • Preparation time: 5 minutes
  • Cooking time: 15 minutes
  • Ingredients: 100g salmon, ½ carrot, 1 leaf of silverbeet, ¼ small capsicum, ¼ cup of shredded cabbage, ½ teaspoon of honey, ½ teaspoon of Tamari (gluten free) or soy sauce.
  1. Cut the salmon fillet into 1cm cubes and leave to marinade in honey and tamari/soy sauce dressing.
  2. Peel and slice the carrot into matchstick sized pieces.
  3. Roughly chop the silverbeet and remove most of the stalk.
  4. Chop the capsicum and cabbage.
  5. Place the salmon, dressing and vegetables in the steamer basket of the Babycook®.
  6. Fill the Babycook® with water to level 3 and press steam button.
  7. When cooked, put all the ingredients in the blending bowl and discard the cooking liquid. Mix, adding a little additional dressing if required.
  8. Serve with cooked rice or noodles.

Chef’s tip

Prepare the salmon in the marinade a few hours in advance for a richer flavour. If preparing for toddlers and older children, it may not be necessary to mix in the blending bowl, simply serve in whole pieces on a bed of rice or noodles.
