FAQs
Is the Babycook Solo BPA-free? The bowl looks like plastic is it safe?

Yes the Babycook Solo is BPA, lead and phthalate-free, and is certified safe for food contact by global authorities including the USFDA, Health Canada, the EU, NSF International, and the French Food Safety Authority (one of the strictest food safety standards in the world). The bowl is made from food-grade polypropylene plastic rather than glass which is what distinguishes it from the premium Babycook Neo. While the Solo's bowl doesn't come into contact with any heat source directly, parents who prefer zero plastic contact during cooking may want to consider the Babycook Neo, which features a full glass bowl and stainless steel basket. Either way, both models meet the highest international safety certifications

What is the difference between the Babycook Solo and the Babycook Neo?

The Solo is Beaba's original, best-selling model - a straightforward 5-in-1 machine that steams, blends, reheats, and defrosts. It holds 4.5 cups (1,100 ml) of food per cycle and uses a BPA-free plastic bowl with a stainless steel water reservoir. The Babycook Neo is the premium upgrade: it features a full borosilicate glass bowl and stainless steel steam basket (no food-to-plastic contact), a larger 5.2 cup (1,250 ml) capacity, and uses 50% less water and energy than the Solo. Both machines operate the same way and make food in under 20 minutes. The Solo is the ideal choice for parents who want a proven, no-fuss machine at a lower price point. The Neo is for those who want the highest-spec materials and a larger batch size

How much food does the Babycook Solo make, and is it enough for batch cooking?

The Babycook Solo holds 4.5 cups (1,100 ml) and can produce approximately 27 servings of baby food per steam cycle enough for a solid week of meals when stored in the freezer. The whole process from raw ingredients to finished purée takes under 20 minutes. It's worth noting that the Solo's capacity is suited to one child at a time, parents with twins or multiple children at weaning stage may find the larger Babycook Neo a more practical choice. For single-child families, the Solo is more than capable of supporting a weekly batch cooking routine

Can the Babycook Solo cook meat and fish, not just fruit and vegetables?

Yes the Babycook Solo can steam and blend raw chicken, fish, red meat, fruit and vegetables. For meat and fish, the key is to cut them into small, even pieces before placing them in the steam basket, which helps ensure thorough cooking. The steam cycle for denser proteins typically requires water level 3 (approximately 15 minutes). Once steamed, transfer the food to the blending bowl and blend to your baby's preferred consistency smooth for younger babies just starting solids, or left chunkier for older babies progressing through textures. The included recipe booklet provides guidance on cooking times and food combinations for different stages

Is the Babycook Solo easy to clean, and how do I stop the bowl staining from carrots?

The Babycook Solo cleans up quickly the steam basket, bowl, lid and spatula are all top-rack dishwasher safe, and a quick hand rinse straight after use takes around 3 minutes. Carrot and pumpkin staining on the plastic bowl is very common and completely harmless, but it can be removed by rubbing a small amount of vegetable oil into the stained area with a paper towel, then washing off with warm soapy water. For stubborn stains, an overnight soak in hot water with degreasing dish soap works well. Like all Babycook models, the Solo also needs periodic descaling of the water reservoir using cold white distilled vinegar every 6–8 uses more often in hard water areas to keep steam cycles running efficiently
