Winter warming Pea & Ham Soup

As the mercury drops nothing warms the belly like comforting Pea & Ham Soup! Here is our Babycook friendly version so your whole family can enjoy!

Pea and Ham Soup

Ingredients:

150g fresh Peas

1 Onion

60g Potato

20g of rindless Ham

1 knob of Butter

Instructions:

Peel the potato, wash and cut into 1cm cubes.

Peel the onion and chop leaving only the white part.

Shell the peas (keep the pods).

Place the potato, the onions and the peas in the Babycook steam basket.

Pour water into the tank (level 3) and start cooking process.

Place the cooked food in the blender bowl with the ham and butter. Mix by adding some of the cooking liquid until the desired consistency.

Chef’s tip - Keep the pea pods to make a creamy soup. Cook them for about 20 minutes with some chicken stock blending very carefully and if possible, pass through a strainer. It is delicious both for babies and adults! For adults or older kids, you can even add a little whipped cream, and a few pieces of mint leaves, for a "cappuccino verde".

For the nutrition conscious - Peas are rich in carbohydrates (sugars), as are potatoes!

Options - replace butter with vegetable, sunflower or canola oil. Instead of ham, you can use chicken or turkey breast.
